bG003: Coen Vunderink

Coen Vunderink is a sculptor and painter in the broadest sense of the meaning. He consciously connects his sculpturing techniques to his painting en choses a painterly approach of his sculptural works. His monumental sculptures as well as his refined paintworks get a special layered, tactile and raw shell. In his experimental working method, the artistic process is central and Coen refers through his choices for method, medium and material knowingly to the past and artistic traditions. The possibilities that ‘the day of today’ and the future are offering are the starting point. For Coen is his artist process is inseparably connected to the past, present and future. But also his own life, his own personal experiences are important, a need for his research. His ‘growing’ knowledge as a contemporary artist is the guideline in his evaluating thinking and creating process.
